New Zealand securities remain as follows: 5 per cent. 10-40 loan, 105 ; 5 per cent. 1889 loan, 104 ; 4j per cent. 1879-1904 loan, 101 ; 4 percent, inscribed stock, Colonial breadstuff's and Australian tallow remain ac last quotations. Wool Sales—At to-day’s auction, 9,400 bales were catalogued. A firm and active demand prevailed. The ship Loch Pyne, which left Lyttelton for London on May 14, and has not since been heard of, has been posted at Lloyd’s as missing. < Deo, 6. is announced that the Right Hon. Sir Edward Sullivan, Master of Rolls in the Irish Court of Justice, has been appointed to succeed the Right Hon. Hugh Law as Lord Chancellor for Ireland. Paris, Dec. 5. Parleying has been resumed between the French and Chinese Governments with a view of averting the threatened war. It is hoped that the difficulties which rendered previous negotiations futile may now be overcome, and that an amicable settlement of the Tonquin dispute may be arrived at. Durban (Natal), Dec. 5.

It is reported that Cetewayo is to be reinstated at Ulundi with the British resident there. Some British troops are remaining in Zululand until quiet is assured.
