MORE OIL WORKS
That valuable tract of land, known as the Waipnrra Block, adjoining th- Mouth Pacific Oil Spring Company’s works, has been secured «u lease from Messrs. Muir and Findlay, who have the freehold, by a large and influential Company formed ip Christchurch. The negotiations were, v/e believe, completed by Mr. A. Keefer, a gentleman who has the greatest possible faith in the eventual success of Poverty Bay ns an oil producing country, Mr. W. Hooper, who is to conduct the practical Working of the ground j arrived here on Sunday and proceeds, With other gentlemen interested in the Company, to the scene of ffltUre operations this morning. The indications of oil are said to be excellent, and we hope on the return of the party to be enabled to supply a most favorable report. We may add that before commencing operations Mr. Hoo) er has decided to make himself thoroughly conver* sent with the working of the present mine.,
