SPORTING.
A match for £2O has been made between P. Maher and B. Weston, the distance being 100 yards, to be run on Friday, the 23rd Inst, at Makaraka. £6 a-sfde has been deposited with the stakeholder and judge (Mr J. Aislabie), the balance to be staked at the post. Starter, Mr D. Page, Maher appears to be the favorite.
on Bunday W. WaMß's LadyGrey dropped a very fine colt by Foul Play. The youngster was nearly lost by falling into a well, but was rescued uninjured. Lady Grey’s prodigy has always proved themselves good, and this one should show an amount of quality which has never yet been equalled by a locally bred horse.
It is understood that Mr Walsh will again send his handsome little cheenut mare, Lacteal, to contest some of the events at Waerenga-a-hika.
