Sir Julius Vugkl was breu by Mr Holly, of Chri-tchureo, the breaker of Champion, who also gamed First Prize three years in succepsiun at the Auckland show. Sir Julius is a hors * of g eat hair, bone, and substance, and for action has no equal of his class. Imported Major was bred in England, and sold to the late John Commode, of L’asmanta, f >r £lOOO, and then purchased by the late Ben Newel, Esq , for the sum of £l3OO, for New Zealand, where his slock are deemed, in Auckland and Wanganui, the guinea stamp at first eight, without further investigation. He is now’ in Canterbury, where stock owners often ride thirty hnd forty miles to see Major, and good judges say that Major is the mostperfect horse that, ever left England. The famed Nugget, in Waikato, is by Major, and Mr T Greg’s Young Major, at Wanganui. The great.-st favorite in all that part is a son to the renowned ol«l horse : the best mares north and south trace decent to Major; likewise the prize-takers at the Auckland Show for many years. Sir Julius is now rising 7 years old. As a proof of Major’s quality Kat-*, the Champion Prize Mare of < amerbury and Otiuo (where good Clydesdale slock is appreciated), was mated to the renowned chesnu , Old Major.
