J BATTERY.
The usual monthly inspection by the commanding officer of the district (Captain took place at the Drill Shed on Thursday evening, when the muster was 46 tank ftHu officers. After putting his men through a few evolutions and making a keen inspection, Captain Porter expressed himself as highley satisfied with their efficiency and general appearance, and likewise stated that the Library committee had expressed a wish that the Volunteers visit the Fine Arts and Industrial Exhibition which request was acceded to, the corps marching down to the enlivening strains of the band. On arriving outside the Library Building, the order to pile arms was given and the men quickly dispersed amongst the visitors. After ample time had been given to inspect the numerous interesting exhibits, and beautiful flowers which were on show, the bugle call was given to fall in, and Captain Porter informed the men that a special Government inspection would take place by Major Shepherd on Friday night, when he hoped to see all the corps present.
