Poverty Bay has lost a good advocate in Mr R. Hill Fisher, who yesterday left us. Mr Fisher, as representative for the past two years of that go-ahead institute, the New Z'aland Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, has gained the friendship and esteem of the mercantile public. Mr Fisher has made many friends in this district, and his loss will be much felt. It is consolatory to know that his future home is Christchurch. Mr Fisher carries with him the good wishes and general good feeling of everybody. The manv friends who saw Mr Fisher and bis family off yesterday, and the hearty cheers and good byes made by them, are loving test imony of the appreciation he met with

here. We wish him success It is not often | in our small community we part with a good friend and find his place substantially filled. Mr Hanna, the present representa iye of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, is a gentlem *n well fitted for his position, and, so far as we know, will be very wel ome as an a< cession to the community both from a business point of view, and socia’ly as a gentleman able to take a promini ent position here. During the few days of his sojourn among us Mr Hanna has gained the good feeling of the Poverty Bay residents. Captain Winter presented Gunner Hansen with the Champion Belt, won by him at the late competition.
