Traitor by Traducer, out of Deception, by Young Plover, Vanity by Sir Charles, Giggler by Tomboy, Duchess of York by Waxy, Moses dam by Johanna, Gray Skin by Woodpecker, Herod, Golden Grape (imp.), by Barnton out of Hop-picker, by Orlando out of Holbine by Sir Hercules. Barnton is a brother to Voltigeur. Bothwell has proved himself a sure foalgetter, and his stock, as two-year-olds, are well known to be the best in the district. NEW CHUM is now 9 years old, with plenty of power, and a sure foal getter. He was bred by Mr Donald Fraser, Rangitikei, by Traducer, clam Fair Lass, by Riddlesworth, grand dam Fair Wave, imported from Sydney. Fair Wave was supposed to be one of the grandest Arab mares ever imported to New Zealand. New Chum has shown his good breeding both on the turf and at the stud. He made 1 his first appearance in Wellington, where he started in a two-and-a-balf mile race, weight for age, beating Whitefoot, Gazelle, and others. Then went to Napier, where he was beaten by Never Miss by a head, New Chum carrying 211bs over, Never Mias beating Lady Grey and others. He then saddled for the Consolation, beating Wairarapa, Lady Grey and Wide-awake.
