Sporting from Hastings.

By Thump Yoss. Now that the final payments have closed, here are a lot of knowing ones Visit the course here of a morning to witness the various teams working, aud those that got up early this morning were not on a wild “ goose chase ” for nearly all the trainers were of the same miud, and treated their respective teams to fast work. The first to work was Martin and Goosemau’s team. Garmen, Radatnes, and Oberou were sent .wo miles, the first-named picking them up at the three-quarter mile post the last time, md finishing Home ut a rattling puce, Curmeu nuving the best of it &he is greatly fancied tor the Flying Handicap, as her owner has declined to pay up for her iu the Spring Handicap. she is very fast for a short journey, and I expect to see her run into u place iu it. The next to atrip was Wild Dayrell aud Reform, two candidates for the Hurdle Race. They were sent two miles at a good pace, but the big brown sou of Creageagle disposed of his adversary quite easily, besides giving him a good deal uf weight, and I look at his show for the lurdles equal to auyihiug iu it. Luue Hand did useful work aud is looking as well, if uot better than } have seen hun since hi a arrival iu New Zealand, aud if Clarke can keep him on the fences I look no further tor the winner. Loch Lomond works at Mr Donueley’s private course, but at present .tuuds first favorite. Tim Whittier a d Kb'gask were sent a litte over a mile at a pace, Tim having the best of the run .ip he strait. 1 hear from tho'C that had the watch on that they are quite sauguiue of Titn winning the Spring Handicap, he having doue a mile with the weight up iu satiofac cory time. From what 1 can hear, Martin 'tole a proper march on the local touts yesterday morning with Mischief and Leuuata. They are supposed to have gone a trial which has proved satisfactory to the owner, aud the stable are quite certain the principle event will go to their credit again as it did lust year. Alkiuson seut his team ut agoud pace. The Laird did not put iu an appear* ance (on dit} that he has gone crooked, bui the report has uot been confirmed as yet Robiua was sent along at a smart face for a mle, but weut very sluggish. With the exception of Milder, who was treated to wice round at a guud pace, concluded tne morning’s work. Edwards had not put iu an appearance up to the time I left the course, but I believe Leonora did some good -iork after breakfast.

As the final payments are numerous, and he race privuleges brought good prices, 1 expect tu see the tneetiug turnout a success, is it bids fair tu be the best Spring meeting .he club have ever held, besides profiting by it The course looks Al after the tup dressing it received some time back.

In my next I will venture my “tips” which 1 hope will prove quite right The ■ Dust fancied at present tur the Handicap u-e—Mischief, Leonata, and Tim Whittier, r'or the Hurdles Loch Lomond, Wild Jayrell, aud Luue Hand. Fl) mg Handicap -Carmen, i aukee, aud Kobina, the former the most. W idle fur the Guineas, Captain Russel's filly is lhe must fancied, Snider and Gue run having a great numb, r of friends. Doubles are being freely backed. there 1b a guod muster uf bookmakers, local ana foreign, assembled at Hastings, 25 to 2 oeiug tne market price about u double. Saturday, 29H1 September,
