A preliminary notice has been issued and a meeting called tor Friday next by the Library Committee, having for its object the organisation of a Fine Art- and industrial Exhibition in aid of the funds of the above institution. A special feature of this exhibition will be that every encouragement will be given to juvenile exhibitors. The Commitlue particularly request that all gentlemen who are willing to aosiat in thia luudible object will send in their names to the hon. secretary, MrH. McKay. Lt is not the iuieiition of the Committee to give any money pr zes to the successful exnibito s but to bestow certifi at-es of merit. Tins, it is to be hoped, will be in a measure remedied by that public philanthropy which has always dis tingutahed this town, and which, we truat will be displayed on this occasion in the shape of prizes offered by laoies and gentlemed to the most deserving exhibitors—especially juveniles.
