Undbb the heeding of general etatietioe for 1882, a return juet published gives the following particulars respecting Friendly Societies:— Manchbsteb Unity iNnKriNDBNT Obpbr of Obdfbllows. Auckland District—This district supports 13 lodges, with a total number of 1,160 members, 136 of whom were admitted during the year. The deaths were only 8, and the amount of sickness during the year 1,362 weeks 5 days. The total receipts during the year £14,937 7s lOd, as against £3,916 2s 2d. Their total worth at the end of the year was £27,971 18s. The above return embraces our Gisborne Lodge, which admitted 1 member during the year as against 6 withdrawals, leaving a total of 27 members at the end of the year i the amount of sickness experienced was 13 weeks 4 days. Total receipts for the year £135 Ils 3d, against £7B 10a 3d expenditure. The total worth of the Lodge is £750 4s sd. It has been established 8 years. Hawke s Bay District—The district of Hawke’s Bay has 8 lodges, having 607 members. The amount of sickness experienced during the year 335 weeks 2 days, and 5 deaths occurred. The total receipts were £1,729 18s 4d, as against £1,133 expenditure. The total worth is £4,945 2s 7d.
New Plymouth District—There were 4 lodges iu this district, having 277 members. The amount of sickness was 313 weeks, and 1 death. The total receipts for the year was £9Bl 3d, as against £682 3s expenditure. The total worth was £2,614 9s 7d. Wanganui District—l Lodge of 85 members, and the amount of sickness experienced 49 weeks 4 days. Total receipts £179 13s 9d, as against £176 2d expenditure. The total worth being £3,436 18s 6d. Wellington District—The returns for this district is only for 5 lodges, viz , Brittannia, Autipidean, Rose of the Valley, Rose of Sheron, and St. George, who number 641 members. The amount of sickness is 1,269 weeks, 3 days, and 7 deaths. The total amount of receipts £2,158 Ils lOd, as against £1,931 6s 4d expenditure. Total amount of worth, £16,734 4s lOd. There are 7 more lodges iu this district from which no returns have been received. Marlborough District has 2 Lodges, with 149 memoers, sickness 223 weeks 6 days, and no deaths. Total receipts £678 2d, as against £422 17s Id expenditure. Total worth £3,140 14s lid. Nelson district has 6 Lodges with 6’2 members. Sickness, 1,066 weeks 5 days and 7 deaths. Total receipts, £2,323, 15s lid as against £2,021, 6s 9d, expenditure. Total worth £8,500 Is Od. North Westland District—has 4 lodges and 252 members. Sickness 300 weeks 2 days and 2 deaths. The total receipts was £1,496 ss, as against £1,131 4s Id expenditure. Total worth £4,418 3s 7d.
Hokitika District— has 5 lodges and 383 members. Amount of sickness 560 weeks 5 days and 2 deaths. Total receipts £2,045 5s lOd, as against £l,BlO 7s 7d expenditure. Total worth £9,143 13s 6d. Ashley District—has 10’lodges with 456 members. Amount of sickness, 327 weeks 3 days, and 2 deaths. Total receipts, £1,498 12s 2d, as against £990 19s Id expenditure. Total worth, £4,829 5s lOd. North Canterbury District—has 17 lodges with 1,292 members. Sickness, 976 weeks 2 days, and 4 deaths. Total receipts £5,447 18s 2d, as against £4,384 4s 4d expenditure. Total worth £14,465 16s sd. There are also 2 lodges in this district for which no returns are given. Lyttelton District —has 4 lodges with 461 members. Sickness 421 weeks 6 days, and 2 deaths. Total receipts £1,972 18s 7d as against £1,446 13s 4d. Total expenditure is £7,836 16s 2d. There are also 5 other lodges for which no returns have been made. Otago District—has 23 lodges with 1,550 members. Sickness 1,525 weeks, and 12 deaths. Total receipts £8,105 9s Id, as against £5,470 12s Id expenditure. Total worth £33,618 19s 4d. Invercargill District—has 5 lodges with 390 members. Sickness 468 weeks 6jlays, and 3 deaths. Total receipts £2,002 17s 9d, as against £1,093 12s 5d expenditure. Total worth £7,801 lls9d. The graud total number of lodges of this order for which returns has been received is 107 haviugB,2Bo members, with 9,190 weeks sickness and 56 deaths. Total receipts £45,577 14s Bd, as against £26,610 8s od expenditure. Total worth £149,457 16s.
