(From our own Correspondent.) LONDON, September 21. At to-days’ wool auction, 10,000 bales were offered. A firmer tone prevailed. The present series closes on the 4th October. Professor Nomdenskold| the Swedish explorer in the Artic regions, who recently returned from an expedition to Greenland, reports that the interior of that country consists of an ice desert of enormous extent, the existence of which was previously unknown. The Bank of England, announces that the following New Zealand loans will be forthwith converted into 4 per cent inscribed stocks via., 44 per cent, 5'30 1879, 1904 loan of £6000,000 5 per cent 5 30 1881, 1906 loan of £1,250,000, and 5 per cent, floating loans amounting to £1,832,000 making a total of £9,082,000 to be converted. September 22. Sir Arthur B’yth, Agent-General for South Australia, has invited tenders for his Government for a loan of £1,500,000. A minimum is fixed at 935. Sir Anthony Musgrave, Governor of Queensland, sailed for Brisbane to-day by the Orient steamship, Sorata. A proclamation has been issued by the Irish .Executive declaring certain parts of the counties of Mayo, Clare, and Limerick to be disturbed districts. A review of a large body of Imperial troops was held to-day at Hamburg, near Freak Fort, on the Maine, before Emperor William. The spectacle was a grand one, and was witnessed by King Alfonso, of Spain, who is on a visit to the Emperor and English Princes now in Germany. MADRID, September 21. An official denial has been given to reports that have recently been current here, to the effect that King Alfonso, who is now on a visit to the German Emperor, is taking advantage of hia presence at the German Court, to bring about an alliance between the two countries.
