From an abstract, taken from the log of the British King on the last run home, the actual time her engines were working was 43 days eight hours and 45 minutes, and her able commander (Captain John Kelly) hopes to make even a better record this coming voyage. The abstract referred to shows the steamer to nave run 9,975 miles, from this port to Rio Janei o; 2,601 from Rio to St Vincent; 2,262 miles from St Vincent to P ymouth ; and 2Uo miles from there to Gr ivesend —thus making the distance from Lyttelton to Gravesend, via Rio and Bt. V rncent —to be 12,213 miles, or Lyttelton to Plymouth, via the ports named, 11,018 miles. —Press.
