Mr Reynolds’ motion for the appointment of a select committee to fully enquire into an alleged case of forging and uttering by Mr E. ff. Ward, of Gisborne, of a certain document purporting to be signed by the late Dr Nesbitt, was opposed by the Hon. Whitaker, on the ground that the case had already been decided by the law courts, was negatived, The motion by the Hon. Mr Reynolds to reduce the expenses of the staff of the Council by £6OO, was lost by 27 to 6,
