(From our own Coßßic«rojtDi!NT.) WELLINGTON. A Royal Commission has been appointed to enquire into the cau-e of the outbreak of fever on board the ship Oxford. The Commissioners are Dr. Henry, HeaVh offi ier ; Dr. Graham, Inspector of Asylums ; and Mr Hackworth, Collector of Customs. The enquiry will be a most searching one. A number of immigrants have been released from quarantine, and the patients are progressing favorably. The members of the Legislative visit Terawhiti goldfields on Saturday next. DUNEDIN. The steamer British King, from London, reached the Heads at Port Chalmers at six o’clock this morning, and was berthed three hours later. She Ims 2000 tons of cargo, twothirds of which is for hero. There are 150 passengers. Mrs. Miller, a steerage passenger, died. The actual steaming was 43 days 104 hours, the best day’s work being 333 miles. The Ro'omahana enquiry has concluded, and judgment will bo given on Monday. At the City Police Court, Captain Barford was fined one shilling for obstruction in allowing the Salvation Army to meet in the Octagon. Notice of appeal was given. NAPIER, Friday. The Limerick Store at Te Aute was destroyed by fire last night. The stock was uninsured, and valued at £5OO. The origin is at present unknown. AUCKLAND. The Secretary of the Rega’ta Committee has written to the Australian Yacht Club, stating that a prize of £2OO will be offered, next regatta if yachts will come over to compete for it. Mr. McDonald, Engineer of the Harbor Board, has returned from Australia. The dock plans were approved of by the consulting Engineer. Two hands belonging to the Tarawera have been arrested on a charge of smuggling tobacco. Each man when arrested had parcels containing 201bs of tobacco. CHRISTCHURCH. From the tenor of cablegrams received from Kelsey, it is thought that though the diamonds taken to England are genuine, the cutting has reduced their size so much that their value could not be ascertained.
