ORMOND LETTER.
(From our oan Courksvondk^t.) The late bad weather we have had has left the roads in a deplorable state, but as there is every prospect of fine weather now 7, we shall soon have an improvement. “It never rains but what it pours.” Mr. P. Barrie having just sold out, is followed by Mr. L. Mclntosh, who has disposed of his business at Ormond and Waerenga-a-hika, to Mr W. Curtis ; the latter takes possession from the Ist August, We are also to have opposition in the grocery business. Mr. Mr. A. Peters, of Kaiteratahi, is about to re-open the old store at the 'joiner of the main road and the by-road leading to J. M. Bidgood : fi. We wish him success in his new undertaking. Mr. J. Cooper intends to hold a dancing class in Bruce’s Hall every Wednesday even-ing—-admission 2s, aud also to devote one hour before the usual time of commencing to beginners only, at the low price of Is per hour, should sufficient inducement offer. Mr. M. McLeod has lately had a punt built, and placed on the river at his own expense; It will be a great help to people on the other side in times of a fresh, when they, otherwise, would have to wait two or three days before they could cross. The contract of repairing the approaches to the bridge over the Manunga Creek on the main road, has been successfully carried out by Mr. E. O’Dwyer, and there is not so much danger to life and limb now. The drains on the main road are in a most disgraceful condition, especially that on the left hand side, and it is high time the County Council took some steps to have them cleared out; if they are allowed to continue in such a state some disease will certainly break out in the district.
