PARLIAMENTARY.
(From our.own Correspondent,) WELLINGTON. In the Legislative Council on Thursday, the Property Law Consolidation Bill and St. Peters Church Caversham Bill were read a third time and passed. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. In tho House, the Native Land Laws Amendment Bill and Law Practitioners Amendment Bill were read a first time. The debate on the report of the Committee on Pacific Annexation was resumed. The following resolutions were agreed to that steps be taken up to this time by Government in conjunction with other Australian Colonies to promote the establishment of its rule over such Pacific Islands as arc not under protectorate of Foreign Power and occupation, which Foreign Power would be detrimental to the interests of Australia. That in the event of its being made an absolute condition of annexation that Aus* tralasian Colonies each contribute a fair proportion of cost, it will be necessary that a statement of the amount to be contributed by this Colony .be furnished by the Imperial Government before Parliament is called on to concur in the course which may involve serious additional taxation on this colony. It was also resolved that all papers | bearing on the subject that the Government can supply, be printed for the information of Parliament, It was further agreed to embody resolutions in the Bill and make it the first order for the followihg day. On the motion of Mr Connolly She Bankruptcy Bill was recommitted j clause 139 was amended to allow wages and salary claims not exceeding three months in arrears or £10f) to take precedence of all others. Mr Connolly moved to report progress to allow him to consider the effect of this amendment on the Bill generally. The motion was agreed to. Bills of Exchange Bill was considered in Committee and progress reported.
