RAINER’S DIORAMA.
The following notice of the war Diorama we clip from the Auckland weekly “ Star ” :— The Russo-Turkish War Diorama was exhibited last evening to a large audience, who evidently, by their plaudits, appreciated Mr. Rainer’s efforts to afford satisfaction and pleasure. The pictures were fair and well executed, giving correct views of the terrible scenes and incidents of that disastrous war. Several scenes were especially striking, such as the battles before Plevna, Constantinople by moonlight, crossing the Dmube, the march of Turkish prisoners, the British fleet in the Dardanelles, and the siege of Kars. The descriptive lecture by Mr. Stuart was highly commendable as a clear exposition of the representations. The usual gift distribution was made. Mr. Kenny, Freeman’s Bay, carried off the suits of fur niture, and Mr. Kelly, Coromandel, thebreakfast set of 41 pieces.
