(Fbom ovn owy Corespokdbkt.) WELLINGTON, Monday. In the House on Friday the speaker announced that F. E. Hamlin be one of the interpreters in the House, vice Mr. Hadfield, appointed interpreter in the Council. Mr. Connolly introduced a Bill to validate proceedings in the Supreme Court at Gisborne. A technical error on the part of the Registrar in adjourning the Court from the Court House to a larger hall, having rendered the .proceedings invalid after discussion. The Bill passed through all the stages, and was passed. On the motion cf J. Buchanan, the Public Accounts Committee was instructed to report on unauthorised expenditure account. Messrs Wilson and Wright were added to the Public Accounts Committee. Major Atkinson moyed that the Government business should take precedure on Thursday, after Local Bills are disposed of, and that the House meet on Monday evenings to dispose of Private Members Bills set down for the next two Mondays. After a deal of discussion a motion was carried on a division of 40 to 28. Replying to J. C. Brown, Major Atkinson said many local bodies had to apply before March 31st, to have roads gazetted as main roads. The Government proposed to extend the time for such applications to 30th June. Mr. Steward moved the second reading of the Election School Committees Bill. The Bill proposed to abolish cumulative vote, and provided that only a portion of the Committees should annually retire, the Bill was read a second time. Mr Hutchison has moved the second reading of the Evidence Amendment Bill, but the debate was interrupted by the 22.30 adjournment.
