The question of changing the seat of Government, which crops up every session, has. as usual, again made its appearance- At times t here appeared some shadow of reason ior thinking that it might be held at Christchurch, but the prospect soon faded away. Over the proposal to make the seat, of Government moveable, says a conteranorary, an alternative proposition has been mooted, viz, the formation of three provinces, thus: Auckland, Taranaki, and Hawke’s Bay, one; Wellington, Aelson, and Marlbo rough, two ; Otago, Canterbury, and Westland, three. This plan pulls down nothing it is said, as there would still be federal legislation in Wellington also. Still hankering after the fleshpots of Egypt.
