Sir, —Allow us to exonerate the staff of the “ Herald,” from the charge contained in your yesterday’s issue, regarding the benefit for the Poverty Bay Hospital It was the Editor, Mr Morris’s, suggestion that we should devote one night for this deserving charity, which we most willingly did, a.nd they have very generously given all the printing free of charge, so that it has euabled us to hand over a full half of the gross receipts to this deserving charity, which we hope will be acceptable to the Committee.
