DIVORCE COURT.
GOLDSMITH V. GOLDSMITH AND POULGRAIN, This was a petition to annul the marriage between Robert Goldsmith, a half caste, and Agnes Marehokohopu an aboriginal native, on acconnt of her alleged adultery with the corespondent Poulgrain. Mr Robinsou and Mi- Finn appeared for plaintiff R. Goldsmith deposed : I am the petitioner in this case. This is a certificate of my marriage with the respondent, and is dated May 7,1868. I lived twelve years with her. She left me about December, 1879, on account of my remonstrating with her about her drinking habits. She said she would do as she liked. She left me and would not return. Three weeks after she left me I asked her to come back, and she refused. Of my own kcowledge I do not know who she is living with. I am informed rhat she is living now with a man called Brown. I never scut her away. Rewi te Rori : I know the plaintiff, respondent and corespondent in this <-ase. I remember being in Dickson’s bar, and seeing Agnes and Poulgrain there. They were drinking together, and I saw them go out into the back yard. I followed them, and saw them go into an outhouse. I went and looked in. (Witness here gave evidence as to the adultery) I am quite’sure. I know Poulgrain well, he lives amongst the Maoris. 'J he respondent is living at Makaraka with a Maori named Broun, and has had children by him. Decree nisi granted.
