Many persons are desirous of increasing their grapery or vinery in the quickest possible way at the least expense. They have plenty of cuttings but not the rooted plants. Take a long cutting, say from four to six feet in length, dig holes a foot deep, where you want the vine to grnw, wind the cutting around the hole at the bottom, and let the smallest end come up in the centre of the hole. Pack in soil well, until the hole is filled—letting about two buds run above ground. On the surface put three or four forkfuls of partly rotted manure—sav covering sufficient space to go outside of the circles of the hole, six inches or a foot. Keep all growth down but from one eye—two at thwmost—and by fall yon will have a vine nearly as thrifty and large a* one grows from a well-rooted plant.
