DEATH OF MR C. S. MOGRIDGE.
It is with the deepest feeling of regret that we haxe to record the death, on Saturday night last, at Napier, of Mr Charlei S. Mogridge, after a lingering and painful illness, at the earlg age of 26. The deceased was the 2nd son of Mr Charles Mogridge of Napier, also son-in-law to Mr Neville R. Thornten of this town, and brother to Mr John Mogridge, one of the late proprietors of the Standard. He (deceased) was wellknow in Gisborne as being for some time in charge of the telegraph department, where hii uniform courtesy earned for him the respect and esteem of all who knew him. In private life he endeared himself to aU who enjoyed his acquaintance and was always the first to hold out the hand of help to assist any one—let it be stranger or friend—in any time of need. H leaves a wife and one child. The deceased contracted a severe cold whilst engaged in the prosecution of hi* duties on the West Coait, which he never succeeded in getting rid of, and from that time his health has been gradually failing. Mr Mogridge was an enthusiastic volunteer. Hi* early death is widely and deeply regretted.
