COMPLAINTS FROM IVO BLIGH.

The London “ Figaro ’’complains of the manner in which the Hon. Ivo Bligh’s eleven were treated in the colonies by some of their opponents. The writer (evidently some one who is well acquamed with Mr Bligh) declares the tour was married by repeated personal altercations. Spofforth, in particular, seems to have been specially boorish, one occasion so far forgetting himself as to strike W. W, Read, whose success in defying his “ demon” bowling made him angry and vicious. It is certainly a great pity anything of the kind should have occured. These are the sort of incidents which give color to the belief that all colonial lads are roughs, without manners send their sons to Manitoba, or some such place, instead of to Australia or New Zealand, when they want to emigrate.— Star A meeting was held in the Masonic Hotel yesterday afternoon, by tho Provisional Committee as appointed for making the necessary enquiries as to the desposal of the surplus fat stock of the District. Considerable business was done. Committees were formed to find out and report on the following at the next meeting as follows : —Messrs Graham, Butt, Weston, and Westrupp the best sites for erecting refrigerating j slaughtering and preserving meat, Messrs Common, Graham, and Chamber 8 to obtain the price of the machinery for turning so many per week, also details, cost of casks for salting refrigerating apparatus, and the salary of a good manager:—Messrs Westrupp, Reeves, Johnston, and Weston, to find out, if possible, w’’’at number of cattle could be had for preserving. Messrs. R. H. Fisher, Sutherland, Evans, and Arthur to obtain the number of sheep for refrigerating. Messrs Fisher, Common, Matthews, and Jobson, to find out best market and value for hides, skins, tinned and frozen meats, &c., and to ascertain as far and as accurate as could be done, the best means of availing ourselves of the markets throughout New Zealand, and the cost incurred thereby of shipping it >*way.
