The injured man was at work on a scaffold fixing the facing on the front parapet, when he inadvertently caught hold of a loose piece of wood, which, coming away with him, caused him to lose his balance, and he fell backwards, coming down on the hard footpath. Dr. Pullen was soon in attendance and, after a slight examination, found that though no bones were broken, he had sustained a severe concussion of the brain. ’J he man’s name is Thomas iiigley ; he has only been in Gisbor?ie about three weeks, and we are informed ■ hat it was his intention, next week, io fetch his wife and family from Masterum, with the intention of settling here Upon making further enquiry as to the condition of the sufferer, Dr. Pollen kindly informs us that the patient has broken two ribs, and has sustained a very severe shock to the system, rendering his state very precarious.
