FIRE ON TUESDAY MORNING.

About four o’clock on Tuesday morning Mr Turton (laborer on the tramway) noticed the stables of Mr Brooke, town carter, to be on fire. He gave the alarm, and rang the firebell. On Mr Brooke going to the scene he found the whole place in flames, and was unable to save anything. His loss comprises four sets of harness, new saddle, chaff-cutter, a quantity of chaff and hay, besides the building. He was insured in the Colonial and London and Lancashire Insurance offices for £25 in each. This will not cover his loss by about £7O.
