An extraordinary case of insanity is reported from Toronto. It appears the wife of a druggist, named Robert Coombe, being of nnwund mind, had been secluded in the bouse, and carefully cared for by her hu«band and throe daughters for several years. As a consequence of association, it would seem, insanity has at length developed in the father and children, and they have all been committed to a mad-house. The Dunedin detachment of the Salvation Army just orrived from England, commenced warfare” on Sunday in the Temperance Hall, when Captain Pollard and Captain and Mrs Burfoot conducted services. Four services were held—one at 7 a.m., one at 11 r„ u i., one at 3 p.m., and one at 7 p.m. We understand that over 3000 persons signed the petition which was presented to his Excellency, praying for the release of Longhurat. In his speech at Roxburgh, Mr Vicent Pyke said that although on the opposite side of the House, he considered Major Atkinson one of the most straightforward, honest, and honorable men in the country. Beware of him who meets you with a friendly mien, and in the midst of a cordial salutation, seeks to avoid your glance.
