The colonial financial year 1882-83 terminated on March 31st. Johnny Moran, the well-known Irish comedian, died in Adelaide last month, blind and 1 hard up. ’ Intelligent people make many blunders, because they cun never believe the world as stupid as it is. How many people would be mute if they were forbidden to speak well of themselves and evil of others. The Commissioner of Crown Lands in -South Australia says :—That during the last two years he had remitted the payment of interest to thousands of farmers, many of whom had previous remissions. In fact, all they had paid for their land during the last six or seven years was the first deposit of 10 per cent. As regards water conservation, the Government had constructed 12 large reservoirs, holding an aggregate of 11,500,000 gallons, beside wells and dams.
