LAST NIGHT'S WIRES.

(FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT), NAPIER, Yesterday. As the schooner Johann Adolph, loaded With wool, tallow, etc.j for London, was being towed from the Breastwork by the steamer Sir Donald, this morning stranded on the Boulder Bank, near the head of the eastern pier, where she remained some two or three hours. At noon, as the tide rose, the Sir Donald again took the vessel in tow, and succeeded in getting her out to sea. It is not known if any damage was sustained, but it is feared that the sheathing and timbers have been injured through bumping on sharp stones. A case came before the R.M. to-day which may possibly interest sporting men. Sergt. McGuire sued P. Cohen, proprietor of the Totalisator for £3, being the amount of dividead on one event at the late races. It appears a man named Hickey gave McGuire a ticket on winning horse. Being pressed for time, he asked McGuire to collect dividend ; McGuire finding that a great crowd had gathered round the Totalisator, decided to get the money next day, and on presenting the ticket was refused the money on the ground that no money was paid off the course, also stating that the full amount Was paid out on the race in question.
