The medical officer reports the people us much emaciated in consequence of the groat scarcity of food and the use of seaweed as principal diet. The Treasurer of the Board of Local Relief, County Mayo, reports that great distress exists there. Over 30 persons in alm® houses suffering from famine and fever, and there are 700 on the list needing relief. The distress has not been so great since 1847.
