(FIR VSITED FRE3B ASSOCIATION), AUCKLAND, Yesterday, A drunkard who was arrested yesterday had £692 in eash and securities in his pockets. The Auckland Agricultural Company’s first annual report shows a profit of £ 1,300 being 16J per cent, on the paid up capital. Eight per cent, dividend was declared. The balance was carried forward. Mr McMinn, ex-member for Waipa in the General Assembly, whose sudden death is announced, was apparently in good health yesterday evening. He partook of a hearty meal before retiring, and was found dead in his bed by his servant. DUNEDIN, Yesterday. The Salvation Army have opened their campaign at the Temperance Hall. There was a very small attendance. They met in the centre of the town, and had seme singing, accompanied by tne captain on a concertina and some exhorting. They wear neat uniform, but appear to be very uneducated, Lieut Barford said he had been a costermonger in the East end of London. They have come without money, but have taken the Temperance Hall at £3OO a year, for three years, trusting in the Lord’s goodness to raise the money. F Their mission is to reach the degraded, drunken, and fallen. They will go to their houses and haunts and lure them to services with singing and bands of music- They will send officers from Dunedin to other towns, as they are enrolled.
