CORRESPONDENCE.

We do not hold onnelvee responsible for the opinions expressed by our correspondents]. TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —With reference to a paragraph of Charles Priestly’s letter, appearing in your columns of the 24th ult., to the effect that Mr Finn held out to Priestly m terrorem the imminent danger of Mr E. ff. Ward “coming down ” upon him (Priestly) as an addL tional argument in favor of Priestly’s parting with certain properties. I have been requested to say that Mr Ward never intimated in any way to Priestly or to Mr Finn that he had any such intention, nor in fact had he. It appears that Mr Finn acted as solicitor for Priestly in defending a suit of West v. Priestly, which suit terminated in West’s favor, the taxed costs amounting to upwards of £7O. The fieari facia# was returned nulla bona, and Mr Ward has not received a cent either from Mr West or Mr Priestly on this account. He has never pressed Priestly, and has never intended to do so, and any statement that has been made to that effect, whatever its object, is necessarily false and misleading. Mr Ward says that some six months ago he delivered to Mr Finn, at his request, a title-deed in Priestly’s favor, of a section in Grey street on Mr Finn’s guaranteeing Mr Ward’s claim against Priestly, to he settled by the arbitrament of Mr C. O. Bennett, or some equally responsible person, which arbitrament has not yet been carried out. —1 am, Sir, your obedient servant, L«x.
