Serious Accident to a Child.

An accident of a very serious nature happened to a little boy the son of a Frenchman named Louis Antonio, who resides in Aberdeen Road, on Monday last. From what we can learn it occurred in the most simple manner. A man named Hugh Boyd, who is erni ployed by Mr Erskine as baker and carrier i out, called at t he house of the injured child’s ! parents with bread. Two or three youngsters j ran out, and he having given them the loaves, I started on his round. He. was instantly 1 alarmed by hearing a cry, and looking round ' saw the poor little hoy on the wheel. Hv immediately stopped, but it was too late, the . unfortunate child having had a leg and an arm broken. No blame can possibly be at- ' | tached to Boyd, as he had not noticed the I little fellow near the cart. The accident is 1 one which children often narrowly escape, ’ ! and although regretting that we have to re- ' 1 cord it in the present instance, we are surprised at not having to do so before. Parents should seriously caution their children as to danger they run by hanging about vehicles : and clambering on the wheels. Thia is a very common practice, but one a child should be » severely punished for. Unfortunately, this little one’s punishment was painfully severe.
