Th* Arawata will arrive early to-morrow morning from Napier and Southern Forte. She leaves the same day for Auckland, after discharging her cargo and passengers. The work in connection with the raising of the Orient liner Austral, Sank in Neutral Bay, Sydney, is progressing rapidly. The ooflbr-dem, extending over nearly 400 feet of the vessel, has been closed in, and operations are now Ming chiefly confined to the strengthening of it in the inside by struts and shores. The pumps are being placed in position, and we may expect to hear that a trial has bean made to raise the vessel in a few days. Her yards have all been taken down, and all tophamper removed. Ballast has been put into her on the port side, so as to counterbalance the effect of the coal whieh is supposed to have shifted to her starboard side when she capsized. Mr Eldridge (the representative of the company) has reached Sydney, as has assumed charge of the work. An experienced diver has also been sent ont from home. Both Mr Eldridge and Captain Chisholm who has reached Sydney as the representative of the underwriters) are surprised at the amount of work towards raising the vessel accomplished before their arrival
