A meeting of the creditors of Samuel Boe, timber merchant, was convened for this al moon, but as none of them attended, there was an adjournment made sine die. Mrs. Jane Kirk Craig, a resident of Napier for thirty years, died on the 10th inst., at the age of 73. The valuation list for the Borough for 1883 is now open for inspection at the Town Clerk's Office. Objections must be left before the 15th of March with the Town Clerk, and addressed to the Assessment Court. Mr E. K. Brown’s new advertisement appears in our issue of this evening. Our readers are requested to read, mark, learn and inwardly digest the same. Tenders for the Gieborne-Wairoa road, Wairoa County, are invited for road formation between the several sections numbered in the advertisement, which appears in another column, and we beg to call the attention of contractors and others interested, to the fact, that Mr Lambert will be in attendance to meet intending contractors at the Opoite Ferry, to point out the road on Saturday the 3rd of March, at 8 o’clock, a.m. In order to render the coming race-meet-ing attraceive the Gisborne Band has been secured. This will enliven the procedure of the meeting considerably, and, no doubt, Mr Farram will select appropriate airs for each event, such as “ Bright as the Morning Star” in the Hurdle Race; “It was the Cat ”in the County Stakes; Yankee Doodle in the Tradesman’s Handicap; “By Virginia’s Water ” in the Turanganui Stakes ; “ I'm the Forest King ” in the Maiden Plate; “ Piscatorial pursuits are my Delight ” in the Town Plate, and “ Let the best Horse Win ” in the Selling Race. We have again been requested to call the attention of property owners to the nuisance caused by trees overhanging the footpaths. We have done this so often that we feel that our remarks will have but little effect. Still something should be done soon.

The volunteer firing tournament is over, and the winners declared, but they have not received their prizes, nor do they know when they are likely to. Why is this thus ? Mr Graham Lord Greenwood’s appointment as Registrar of the Supreme Court for Gisborne, has b»en officially notified.
