SPORTING.
The Waerenga-a-hika raeeeourse having been handed over to the Committee of the Poverty Bay Turf Club they find it desirable in order to get it into proper order, to prohibit the use of it for training purposes. All owners and trainers are therefore cautioned against infringing this rule as it will render them liable to disqualification. This is a very sensible decision on the part of the Club because if we are to have good racing we must have a good going ground, and thia we would not have if a number of horses were allowed to gallop continually on it. There is an evident intention on tho part of the Committee to render the coming meeting successful and they have already spent a considerable sum upon the Course and Grand Stand in order that those who visit the races will be enabled to thoroughly enjoy themselves, as well as witness really good sport.
