At the Resident Magistrates Court this morning, a case against a man named Burroughs, for ill-treating a horse, was remanded on the applicaton of the defendant. At present there is a great want of house accommodation in Gisborne. People who arrive in the bay cannot obtain a eottage for Idve or money, and are therefore compelled to stay at one of the hotels, which means to a person of limited means, the sacrifice of his weeks earnings. Why does not some enterprising speculator build cottages in the township and let them at a reasonable figure We are certain his money would not be parted with in vain, and that he would shortly reap a rich reward.
