My sole aim will be to further the progress of the town of Gisborne in the most economic and substantial manner possible. If elected I shall work strongly against any proposition for any works, or appropriation of public money, that may tend in any way to further private interests; and against any outlay in the formation of roads where the funds will not allow of them being finished, as I know from experience that such formations are nothing more than a waete of public money. I shall always advocate any feasible plan for any water supply, and also any sanitary scheme that will improve the healthiness of the town. In faet, ladies and gentlemen, I shall always go straight for progression, coupled with economy. Hoping to secure your votes and interests, I am your obedient servant, DUNCAN HEPBURN.
