The well-known thoroughbred Laertes was sold recently at Tapanui for ‘ £l3. The famous Am'orieftn racehorse Isonomy has changed hands at 90GJ guineas. Fred. Archer, tike noted English jockey, was married at Ch ristmastide to Miss Dawson, daughter of John Dawson, the wellknown trainer. Archer, it is said, is worth between £60.000 and £70,000, invested for him by Lord Falraouth in solid securities. At Mr Andrew Town’s sale of thoroughbreds in New South Wales recently 32 lots of thoroughbreds fetched 6157 guineas. The highest pieces were for a Maribyrnong— Fawn filly, 1900 guineas, and a Maribyrnong —Rosedale filly, 1000 guineas, both purchased by Mr James White. A Maribyrnong—Amethyst colt, purchased by Mr A. F. Smart, fetched 950 guineas.
