Australian tallow, best beef, 43s 6d ; best mutton, 465, market firm. Arrived at Plymouth, the P. and O. Co.’s steamship Kaiser Hind, from Melbourne, Dec. 8. January 25. The Bank of England has this day reduced the rate of discount from five to four per cent. CAPETOWN, January 24. Intelligence is to hand from Zululand, that Cetewayo has arrived at Ulundi, and that the ceremony of his reinstation will take place immediately. PARIS, Jan. 23. The Empress Eugene having succeeded in reuniting the Bonapartist party, returned to-day to London. CAIRO, January 24. Sir Auckland Colvin who recently resigned his position as British Controller-General of Egyptian Finance has been offered and accepted the post of Financial Adviser to the Egyptian Government. CONSTANTINOPLE, Jan. 24. It has transpired that communications have recently passed between the Porte and the French Government regarding the circular note, issued to the Great Powers on the sth inst., by the English Government in which it explains its intentions with regard to Egypt. It is now understood that the Ottoman Government are preparing to protest against the policy avowed by England, and have received an assurance of support by the French Government from their representative at Stamboul.
