Th* Forest Queen (ketch) is expected every day from Oamaru, with produce. The schooner Gisborne is daily expected from Auckland via the Coast, The Union Company's steamer Manapeuri, Captain Logan, left Auckland at 1 p.m., today, for Gisborne. The Union Company’s steamer Sodthern Cross leaves Napier at three o’clock this afternoon, and may be expected here at daylight to-morrow. Tne Union Co.'s Taiaroa is appointed to leave Dunedin on Friday (to-morrow), calling at way ports. She may be expected to arrive in the Bay about the Ist of February, when she will leave for Tauranga and Auckland. The Lucy James, Captain Miller, is now ready to leave the Bay with a general cargo for Auckland via the Coast. She is a nice little vessel, and we wish her Captain a prosperous voyage and a speedy return to Gisborne. At Dunedin on Saturday, the 13th Inst., Captain J. Mclntosh, who is about to be transferred from the command of the s.s. Omapere to that of the Hero, was the recipient of a very handsome gold Maltose cross with a diamond set in its centre. On the reverse of the cross was the following inscription" Presented to Captain Mclntosh by the officers of the s.*. Omapere." Captain Mclntosh made an appropriate reply and assured the officers that he highly esteemed the compliment paid him. At the same time Mr Percy A. Mackmeikan, the purser, who is also to be transferred to the Hero, was presented by his brother officers with a gold signet ring a* a mark of the regard they entertained for him, and their regret that he was about to sever his connection with them.
