(BY CABLE.—REUTER’S TELEGRAMS). SYDNEY, This Day. Mr H. Copeland, Minister for Public Works, who was rejected on seeking reelection at Newton, was yesterday returned for East Sydney by a majority of 1800 over his opponent, Dr. Renwick, ex-Seeretary of Mines. MELBOURNE, This Day. At the Executive Council meeting yesterday the following gentlemen were appointed members of the Board to enquire into the causes of the Hawthorn Railway Accident, —Messrs. Worthinton, Dodshun, Bright, Collier, and Ross. The Council meeting was presided over by Sir Bryan O’Loghlen, Premier, the Governor being absent owing to the illness of the Marchioness of Nonnanby.
