The schooner Gisborne, Captain J. H. Skinner, left Auckland on Monday last, for this port, via the Coast. A horae, the property of Mr Orbell, who left the district by the s.s. Arawata, occasioned some iittle excitement, if not consternation, by its frantic efforts to leap out of the landing box, a feat which it at the start succeeded in accomplishing. The animal struggled so much that at last it was found necessary to place a netting over the bov. There was a large assemblage on the wharf yesterday to witness the landing of the Juvenile Opera Company, and it is almost needless to say that our local youngsters mustered strong. The little actors and actresses looked as if they were well cared for being neatly dressed, and modest in their demeanour, though showing signs that they were in possession of that greatest of Nature’s boon—vigorous health. Mr W. J. Quigley advertises for tenders for alterations and additions to the premises of Mr G, R, Moore, Gladstone Road.
