WaUlatttoa Bmm(PER UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Wellington Racing Club have decided to ask Mr Hatley, of Wanganui, to frame th* Handleap for our Summer Meeting. The Cup Handicap was made up by the Stewards, and the result was that only six horses accepted. The Oamaru Joekey Club are thinking of establishing a Derby. ’* yKgles ’ thinks it is time that the money in the Melbourne Cup was increased to £lOOO, and that more money be added to other events at the Cup metting. There is evidently a good deal oi jealousy in Dunedin over the proposal of the Canterbury Jockey Club to have a £lOOO race, which finds its way into open air through the sporting columns ofjthe Witness, We do not see that it matters much whether Dunedin taking first place in sporting matters in New Zealand ; surely each place can have its successful meetings without injury to the other.
