A NEW ARMY PISTOL.

Ma Chabieb Lascasteh, % Bond street, W.j lias introduce ler ; e(s3 !

four-barrel breech-loadinghamn , r pistol, which possesses many an ' tages over the old form of revolve- J chiefly increased accuracy and strengt. 1 of shooting, owing to its dispensing ( with the escape between the revolving chambers and the stationary barrel, which not only acted prejudicially in the above directions, but made it impossible to rest the weapon on the left ntjnd when aiming, except at the risk of Serious injury. There is in this pistol no opening through which any gas canescape ; so the weapon can be Used like a gun when aiming (that is to say, when the left hand on the barrels), and there -are no screws, hammers, or projections to catch the clothing, reins, etc. Above all, there is no fear of a jam, o* the weapon becoming unserviceable from overheating or other accident. The mechanism is covered up, and dirt, damp, wet, and ' ill usage hardly affect the pistol at all. The pistoljwill take the ordinary' Government ’445 central ire cartridge, and shoots with force and accuracy, ft is constructed with a hinge atthe bottom of the breech, and held in position by ' ’a connection on the top of the barrels, ■which is worked by a lever placed on the left-hand side, being the most con--venient position, as the thumb in 1 grasping readily works the lever to allow the connection to be lifted, and so causes the barrels to drop. The ■ extractor is self-acting, and ejects the ; fired cartridge at once. The lock work i -is constructed on the same principle ' 'that of Charles Lancaster's patent ' four-barrel gun, and has, like it, a , rebounding lock, rendering it safe to carry. The barrels are six inches ] long, and the weight of the pistol is 1 two pounds eight ounces. The Lock- ' work is well made, and being well j finished it has a neat and serviceable , appearance. The barrels do not revolve, only the inside hammer. These , pistols, being rifled on the celebrated ] smooth-oval bore system, shot-cart- ' ridge can be used for them.
