HARBOR BOARD.
A meeting of the Harbor Board was held on Tuesday evening last, after the Borough Council meeting. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmedThe outgoing correspondence was read.
Captain J. C. Andrews wrote to the Board accepting the position of Boat Inspector. A letter was read from Mr H 8. McKellar for the Marine Department, stating that in the absence of the Attorney-General he was unable to give au answer to the Board re Common’s wharf, and suggested that the Board consult their solicitor about suing for wharfage. The Secretary of the Harbor Board, Napier, enclosed a cony of the wharfage regulations obtaining in Napier. A similar letter was received from the Secretary of the Auckland Harbor Board.
It was moved by Mr Clayton, seconded by Mr Clarke, and carried, that the Engineer’s salary be at the rate of £5O per annum for the next three months.
It was proposed by Mr Tucker, seconded by Mr Clarke, and carried, that the offer of the Standard for advertising be accepted. No tender for printing was accepted, and the Secretary was instructed to make the best arrangements he could for printing. It was moved, seconded, and carried —That on the completion of any work the Engineer shall inform the Chairman of the Public Works Committee of the completion of such work, and the Chairman shall thereon inform the Secretary of the time and place of meeting for such Committee, and the Secretary shall notify the Engineer and each member of the Committee to be then and there in attendance, and no alteration shall he made in any contract without the consent of the Public Works Committee.
Payments to the amount of £l2 were passed. The Board then adjourned.
