(BY CABLE.—BEUTEB’S TELEGRAMS). MELBOURNE, Dec. 30. The Cricket Match between the Hon. Ivo BUgh's Eleven and the Australian Team SbKfijespatly. returned from eomtendance of spectators, by whom the greatest interest was taken in the game. The weather was very fine, and the ground -being in order, a capital wicket was pitched. The Australians won the toss and went in first Massie and Bannerman being first to face the English bowling. The former batsman failed to make any stand, and was caught and bowled when he bad only scored 4. On Murdech joining Bannerman runs came fast, both players bitting freely. Bannerman was at length stumped when be had contributed a well played 30. Horan followed, but was caught without scoring, and Murdoch was bowled with 48 to his credit. McDonnell and Giffen then made a good stand for 43 and 36 respectively. Blackham obtained a well-earned 25, but Boner particularly distinguished himself having, when the stumps were drawn, contributed 60, not out. His innings was a very brilliant one, bis hitting being splendid, having obtained four fives. At the close of the day’s play the Australians had scored 251 for 7 wickets. The fielding of the English players was excellent, though several difficult chances were missed. Theftollowing is the score :— Australians Ist Innings. This Day. In the first innings of the English Eleven yesterday, Vernon scored 11, not out; the extras were 12, not 5 as previously stated. The score attrißhted to Rickman, as substitute, is ineorect, and should be omitted. The wicket was heavy, owing to the rain, which fell during the morning, and at intervals during the day. The Government have decided to fix the minimnm of the Loan about to be raised in London at par, and as telegraphed to the Agent-General accordingly. The wicket was very unfavorable to the Englishmen. It is still raining, and the match may not be continued to-day. The ship Thirlmere, from London, reports that on the voyage she spoke the barque Undine, from Cardiff to Colombo. The captain and 6 of the crew of the latter had been washed overboard in a heavy gale. ADELAIDE, Jan. 1. The South Australian revenue returns were published to-day. The receipt for the quarter ended December 31 amount to £573,000, being an decrease of £70,000 as compared with the corresponding quarter of last year. The Customs revenue during the same period has increased by £lB,OOO. Territorial receipts have decreased by £BO,OOO. The revenue for the past half-past year is £96,000 below the estimate. This day.
