CORRESPONDENCE.

We do not hoi 1 ourselves responsible for the opinions expressed by our correspondents]. BATHING. TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —Mr “Observer,” who writes about bathing, should at least wash the dirt out of his eyes. I feel convinced that he does not even bathe in a saucer, or else he would not have endeavored to cast a slur upon a young gentleman who, even if he possibly has not other good qualities, possesses one which, if “Observer” has brain enough, he should know is next to godliness. Could the writer of that stupid epistle which graced your columns (I was nearly prefixing graced with “ dis ”) have ever visited a watering-place in England, Scotland, or America ? I venture to say he has not, or he would never have written such stupid, idiotic rubbish. Serteant Kidd, when in Gisborne, prohibited athing on the beach, unless in bathingdress, between the hours of eight a.m. and five p.m., and if the “ ladies ” quoted by “ Obterver,” possesses real modesty, and not the mock substitute for that excellent quality, they should not proceed to the beach during the hours w hen men indulge in a dip in the sea.—l am, &c., Natator.
