To-morrow, Thursday the 15th inst., being the day appointed for nomination of candidates for the vacant seats in the Borough Council, it will tahove careful ratepayers to have their sever® nominations handed in to the proper quarter within the time allotted. On all sides an expression of opinion has been given, that in courtesy tn ratepayers, and in their own interests, the several candidates should appoint a certain day, between the days of nomination and election, and a time and place which shall be chosen as being most convenient to the public, on which to meet the electors and afford them an insight into their respective views upon the several questions of local interest now agitating the surface of the Corporation waters. We think the electors are unquestionably within their rights in such expression of their wishes, for, unless they are acquainted with the several candidates’ views upon the Borough questions, how arc they to make up their minds as to whom their votes shall be given ? We would suggest Parnell & Boylan’s Hall on some evening say five or six days previous to the election. In suggesting these matters we do not attempt in any way to dictate to the ratepayers, to the candidates, or to the public generally, but we merely give publicity to what appeal’s to us to he a very general, and by no means unnatural, desire on the part of the public to know something of the views of the respective candidates before recording their votes either for or against them,
