M. R. MILLER’S HAWKE’S BAY STOCK AND STATION REPORT, FOR NOVEMBER, 1882. During the last montli very little business has been done in stock, prices being too high for purchasers, and sellers have sucli an abundance of feed that they are able to hold their stock and will eventually get the prices asked. The country is looking splendid after the late rain, and although it has retarded shearing it has made abundance of feed everyw here there will be little difference between the price of fat and store stock. A large acreage has been shut up for grass seed and looking well, and if the weather keeps fine for harvesting, will yield very good returns. M. R. Miller and Potts report with myself that transactions in sheep are very limited, and beyond a few lines to Gisborne and Wanganui very little business has been, owners preferring to keep and fatten their stock. Cattle.— There is more enquiry, but the demand has not affected the prices very much as yet, although we believe that in another month the pnees will hare risen considerably, especially in store steers, this being the class of cattle most in demand at present Several mobs of fat bullocks have left the dis trict by land for Auckland and Wellington also one or two cargoes every week by sea to Auckland and Dunedin. LONDON SEED TRADE. Messrs. John Shaw and Sons, nf 7 Mark Lane, London, E.C., report through their agent, Mr Leonard W. Blake, of Christchurch, that the market during the fortnight ending 20th October, was extremely quiet, the autumn being over, and the new crops not being on offer yet in any quantity. Yearling red clover was held with firmness. The reports of the new American crop continue unfavorable, the samples received showing bad quality. Choice trefoil this season was unobtainable. The price asked for French Italian, prevented sales being effected. Rape seed showed an upward tendency ; linseed quiet; canary and hemp both cheaper, but slow sale. September's imports into the United Kingdom of clover and grasses were : 10,677 cwt., value L 17,361 ; against 11,729 cwts., value L 22,846 for September, 1881.
